Its a cold and rainy night. You step inside Sisters od Silence Sanitarium to get out of the weather. The receptionist politely greets you and asks you… “Which one of you are we admitting tonight”. “never mind, come in… enjoy our home.” As you walk through the corridors, the reality that not all is as it seems begins to wrap its cold talons firmly around the core of your well being, crushing it and replacing it with stark… blank… primal fear. Who is running this place? Are the patients or the staff in charge? Or… Is there a difference any more. The lines between the two are blurred into a wide, grey line. These are no longer medical rooms, but rooms where people are living, or trying too. Making there home in cages, behind boiler, every where they can find “their” space. You step into the elevator in a desperate move to end the torment only to have your visual senses twisted to help you see the world through the eyes of the insane. Walking out, you have to ask yourself, “Did I just really just see that?”
We at Ghouls Gulch are proud of Sanitarium. This work was a great project and we look forward to being able to share it with you. Take a look at our website (ghoulsgulch.com) see when we are open, and come on down to see us. Make sure you bring with you your imagination, we’ll supply the glasses and let you see the world “through the eyes of the insane”.
